RIVER

There's so much I could say about my boy River, first River is a male bred by myself & Minikota Swedish Vallhunds. His father is a dog I have always loved, and actually, I had had the chance to keep his father as a puppy but we weren't ready for a puppy at the time. It was something I always regretted so when I had the chance to breed River's mother to him I jumped at it. River is a Tjappo male, which means he has the very rare paternal line which is passed on from father to son.

River is the first boy I bred that I kept, and there's something very special about him, he came into my life during a very dark time. He has been my constant companion since he was little. He reminds me of a quote, "water is powerful, it can wash away earth, put out fire and even destroy iron", and that is how I would describe him.  Quiet, powerful, watchful.

River has been a force in the show ring, with multiple group wins and placements in multiple venues & multiple reserve best-in-show wins all before he was two years old. I have been so proud of this dog and what he does and the fact that he does it for me.  He is the first dog I bred who has accomplished so much, and we've done it together. River is the first dog I've shown that has been placed in a regular herding group in AKC. We have also placed multiple times in the National Owner Handler Series.

River is a big boy, we often find ourselves singing "Big River" by Johnny Cash to him but he has a sweet and gentle temperament. He often plays with dogs smaller than him, including puppies, and is very patient as well.  He is a Mama's boy, and can often be found sleeping at my feet. He also does have a good amount of drive, he's a true Swedish Vallhund in how he knows when to turn it off and on.
